If Lyl's bravery ever could be said to have brought her something good, it would probably have to be said that it was luck. Options appear when one is willing to try anything. People underestimate you, assuming you are like others your age, or of your stature, birthplace, or kind, so you end up impressing them, without having been anything but franticly trying to pursue your goal.
Courage is soldiering on when you are terrified, and if there is anything Lyl does well, it is this. It is not that she is actually the most talented or interesting person, as much as she does not limit her own effort based on her knowledge that she lacks knowledge. She never stops trying, no matter the seemingly impossible obstacles in front of her. Call it stubbornness. Call it luck. Call it bravery.
I call it what a wild spirit brings.

And once again, Lyl has acted foolishly based upon her own assumptions. She has walked boldly into a situation, riding the names and titles she knows, rather than understanding the people she has chosen.
And yet again, she has had to deal with the embarrassment and suffering caused by her rash behavior.
Lyl has had time with herself, which, though irritating and sad, she needed desperately. She has also had another opportunity to realize that she genuinely needs to spend time just learning for herself about her people.
There is a difference between confidence and blindness, and it is only a thin line. Will this finally sink in?

Lyl has yet again found herself oblivious about her chosen people, and their homeland. She also has, thankfully, finally met someone who could convince her that she should watch what she says.
She was brave enough to meet new people, and is no longer lost, but now, she must focus on her chosen task, and also wonder about the greatness of her mother, and yet more hints at something important about her brother...

Lyl has discovered that it is one thing to state a horrible fate for a criminal, and quite another to be the one to dish out the punishment.
She has also come to terms with the fact that even kind gifts, if not understood, can make people fear you. In fact, in general, people are afraid of anything they do not understand, without regard for whether or not it benefits them. There are times that this means you can only do so much for someone...
Lyl also has finally realized that, though hard things have happened in her life, she has not had it worst in the world. No matter what horrible thing has happened to you, someone has always had it worse. Always.
And no one has had a perfect life. It may be something different, something you would not even find traumatic, but everyone has had a terrible time in their life, events that made them re-evaluate their purpose and worth. No one escapes testing and trials, and it is not a competition to see who gets to be the biggest victim and justify their crying, so much as a proof of who can withstand the torture and keep going forward, producing good as they go. Life's struggles are not meant to be excuses, but steps to a higher plane of opportunity and growth.
Lyl took her own negative experiences and used that knowledge to help someone in the present. Instead of letting horror from the past dominate her entirely, she found a way to allow it to propel her into kindness.
Bad things happen to everyone, and when they do, they do not entitle you to kindness and giving, but should enable you to give and to be compassionate.
It took Lyl, and myself, a long time to understand that.

Lyl has finally reached the worst place in the world. It has required her utmost effort, and could cost her everything, but she is finally there, and finally able to remedy her mistake.
It is a pity the only way for her to apologize is by risking her life to destroy what is left of his, but an apology was demanded, and the apology has been given.
Now, how can she survive the aftermath of such grueling struggle? How can she rescue herself from her own redemption?
Ingenuity. Creativity. Sheer will.

Lyl is going through something miserable, and she doesn't even feel the right to complain about her own discomfort due to guilt. She has realized this might kill her. She has come to terms with the agony of it all, remaining thoughtless, not only from weariness, but also, from the haunting knowledge that she deserves it...
And the torture all ends at the worst place in the world.

Lyl is struggling with physical strain, with mental torture, and emotional distraught. A sense of duty alone keeps panic at bay, and forces her on, though she'd rather stop.
She would rather stop and never leave. She'd rather stop before the barge, before the home of her friend, and she keeps going on, knowing that she will be miserable the further she goes.
Some things are absolutely unpleasant, but must be done. Some things will weary you to your bones, to your soul, and exhaust your very mind of thought, yet you soldier on, and though your plod slows, you never cease until you finish what you must.
Lyl is driven now, where before she would not listen, now she has seen the error of her procrastination. Guilt is a harsh taskmaster.
Lyl has learned what many teenagers do not learn until they are adults; that listening might have saved them much grief and hardship. But then, Lyl has always been young and foolhardy... (just like I was at her age).
