When walking in the darkness at my parent's house, I can climb the stairs I have climbed a million times. I do not need to view each squared stair to know where it is. I know each is there, running up the steppes without worry.
There is a power to knowing something is true, whether you can see factual evidence of it or not. That power forces that which you envision to be real, and some might call that faith, or a psychological disorder, or denial, or any other thing, but the truth is that it is a blindness.
This blindness is beautiful, and the source of creativity and ingenuity. There is something seen where nothing is. Innovation and sustenance form from this place of blindness, forcing that which does not exist to do so.
And in this utter blindness to what you have been 'told' exists, by others or by your senses, you finally can see with your inner eye, not only the wistfulness of things, but in confidence of internal sight, their being.
And so it is that one must become blind to see, and must accept as true more which they cannot physically see than that which their eyes proclaim.

Lyl has learned that though she may search the planet, there is no such thing as a people with perfect laws. Every nation has good and bad in the political and traditional. Each country forms their own ideals, and if you wish to abide there, sometimes you have to learn to either deal with the small bit you dislike, or else be part of the change of it.
Lyl also has come to terms with the fact that she has no desire to bed a man or a woman in her current condition. She has tried to hide behind a mask of obsessive possessive desire, and misnamed it love. She has accepted that the attraction is there, but that she is a wounded creature, and like all wounded things, tends to lash out and cause hurt rather than pleasure.

Twins are so fun, and elderly twins with foreign accents and opposing temperaments are even more so!
Lyl stayed true to herself, and despite reservations, was honest, completely, with people for once. The results were a good meal, a warm bed, and help to her goals.
Boldness and truthfulness go a long way.
